LNHCS Celebrates National Nursing Week

Nurses, without question, are an integral part of delivering health care to patients. We see nurses in the hospital, in clinics, in operating rooms, but it can sometimes be easy to forget that we do see many nurses in the community as well. These nurses, who work in care homes or facilities or are employed by services such as Likas Nursing and Home Care (LNHCS), are invaluable, because they provide clinical expertise into everyday settings.

Their knowledge and compassionate care, whether through medication safety, palliative care, chronic disease management, or care coordination, help ensure that patients maintain access to health care (even in the comfort of their own homes!) and have better outcomes.

During National Nurses’ Week, which is celebrated in honor of Florence Nightingale (whose birthday is May 12), we celebrate the vital contributions of our nurses: our registered nurses (RNs), registered practical nurses (RPNs) and nurse practitioners (NPs). We stand with them as they advocate for their patients, for a better healthcare system, and for their own well-being.

Nourishing our nurses

To spearhead the celebration of National Nursing Week, Sir Joseph Lasiste, RN, LNHCS Assistant Director of Care, delivered boxes of pizza to the staff of the many nursing homes who house the clients the company serves. More than midday sustenance, it is hoped that the food provided show that LNHCS are united with our nurses and staff in their commitment to deliver excellent care.
